The campaign workflow feature is an essential tool to manage influencers throughout your collaborations.
The default workflow stages span the entire process of collaborating with influencers, from searching for potential candidates to reporting on influencers who have completed the campaign.
Learn more about each one of the default workflow stages in the Workflow Stages section or the workflow overall in the article Campaign Workflow Basics.

Payment stage definition
Payment stages, individually labeled as Pre-Payment and Post-Payment, are used to manage incentive fulfillment within campaigns.
When to use the Payment stages
Enable payment workflow stages based on the incentives you will provide to influencers in a campaign.
If all the influencers in a campaign will receive product or payment before posting, enable the Pre-Payment workflow stage. If all the influencers will receive payment after posting, enable the Post-Payment workflow stage. Both payment stages can be enabled at the same time.
You can also fulfill incentives manually in campaigns where no payment stages are enabled. If you will only provide incentives to a sub-set of influencers in a campaign, we recommend disabling the payment stages to prevent confusion with other influencers.
For additional detail on incentives, see Incentive Overview.
Stage-specific capabilities and tasks
The payment workflow stages are designed to support the process of incentive fulfillment.
Most incentives are associated with a workflow stage when they are set up, and the fulfillment status of the incentive is automatically set to Ready when the influencer reaches the relevant workflow stage, either Pre-Payment or Post-Payment.
For a complete overview of incentive fulfillment functionality, and its relationship to the workflow, see the article Incentive Fulfillment.
Adding influencers to the Pre-Payment & Post-Payment stages
The way that influencers are promoted to the Pre-Payment stage of the workflow depends on the prior stage. If your workflow goes from Confirmation to Pre-Payment, influencers will be added to the Pre-Payment stage automatically when they confirm their participation. Otherwise, they will be added to the Pre-Payment stage manually when promoted out of the preceding stage.
The way that influencers are promoted to the Post-Payment stage of the workflow also depends on the prior stage. If your workflow goes from Content Creation to Post-Payment, influencers will be added to the Post-Payment stage automatically when they complete all deliverables. Otherwise, they will be added to the Post-Payment stage manually when promoted out of the preceding stage.
Promoting influencers past the Pre-Payment & Post-Payment stages
Influencers can be promoted to the next stage after a payment workflow stage automatically if all of the incentives associated with that stage are fulfilled using an integration (PayPal/Stripe or Tango Card). When all of an influencer's incentives associated with a payment stage are fulfilled through an integration, they are automatically promoted to the next stage.
If any incentives associated with a workflow stage are fulfilled manually, influencers must be promoted to the next stage manually, once you have fulfilled all of their incentives.
See Incentive Fulfillment for additional detail.
Workflow phase
Stages are grouped into phases to reflect the status of influencers in the campaign at a higher level. The Pre-Payment stage falls in the Participants phase while the Post-Payment stage falls in the Complete phase.
All campaign functions such as content binding and incentive fulfillment are fully enabled for influencers in both phases.
See Comprehensive Workflow Logic for additional detail on workflow phases.
Related message templates
There are no default message templates specifically associated with the payment workflow stages. However, payment details are referenced in several message templates: Invitation, You're Accepted, and Post Complete. Edit these templates as needed to provide accurate information to your influencers.
Additionally, incentives that are fulfilled using an integration — PayPal cash incentives, Stripe cash incentives, and Tango Card gift card incentives — are delivered to influencers via email. See the linked articles for each incentive type for additional detail.
Appearance to influencers
In campaigns where the influencer campaign manager (ICM) is enabled, influencers in payment workflow stages will see an alert at the top of the page that their next step is to await payment.
