Self-reporting is how creators manually submit content and metrics that can't be collected automatically — for example, when a creator missed the binding hashtag, their account isn't connected, or the content type doesn't support automatic binding (YouTube, Facebook, blog posts, and others).
For a full overview of which content types require self-reporting, see Collecting Campaign Content in Later Influence.
Requests for self-reporting must be sent from inside Later Influence using a message template with the Self-Report Content Link merge tag.
Create a Message Template
- In Later Influence, open the relevant campaign and select the Setup tab
- Select Message Templates from the left sidebar
- Select + Add New Message Template at the bottom of the page to create a new template
- Paste the message below into the template body
- Highlight the words "select here to upload content"
- Select the merge tag button at the top of the message text box and choose Self-Report Content Link to convert the highlighted text into a personalized upload link
- Select Save
Use this message as a starting point:
Hi {{first_name}},
For this campaign, we need your help submitting your content and metrics directly. Select here [include a link to the campaign] to upload content, then add the relevant metrics for your content type.
Thanks,
{{your_name}}Send the Message
Once the template is ready, send it to the relevant creators.
- In Later Influence, open the campaign and select the Workflow tab
- Select the creators who need to self-report using their checkboxes
- Select Message
- Choose the template from the dropdown, or write a new message and insert the merge tag manually
Note: If you're already sending creators a link to their Campaign Manager using the Campaign Details merge tag, they can also access the self-report link directly from the Content Deliverables section of their Campaign Manager — no separate message needed.
