PayPal Incentives

Stripe is replacing PayPal as Later Influence™ (formerly Mavrck)’s payment processor partner as of September 2023. New customers will no longer have access to PayPal in their accounts. Pre-existing PayPal incentives are unaffected and will be fulfilled as usual. New campaigns will automatically use Stripe going forward. Learn more about using Stripe for cash incentives

Cash payments can be created and fulfilled entirely within Later Influence using PayPal integration.

To send payments through PayPal, the integration must be enabled and a payment account linked. For more information about the integration and account options, see PayPal Integration Overview.

Once the integration is enabled, you can start sending payments by creating and fulfilling PayPal incentives, as detailed below.

PayPal Incentive Setup

Create PayPal incentives

There are three ways to create PayPal incentives. Click each option for step-by-step instructions.

Campaign-level: Create the same incentive for all influencers participating in the campaign.

Create a new campaign or navigate to an existing campaign, which must be in draft mode.
Open the Campaign setup tab then the Incentives sub-tab.
Click the + icon to create a new incentive.
Select Cash as the incentive type.
Select PayPal as the fulfillment option.
If there are multiple options in the PayPal Account field, select which one to use.
Enter the payment amount in the value field.
Select the fulfillment workflow stage (Pre-payment or Post-payment) or leave blank.
Click Save.

Influencer-specific: Create individual incentives for specific influencers.

Locate the influencer in the Workflow tab of the relevant campaign.
Click the arrow icon to the right of their name to open their campaign details.
Open the Incentives tab of their campaign details.
Click the + Add Incentive button to create an incentive.
Select Cash as the incentive type.
Select PayPal as the fulfillment option.
If there are multiple options in the PayPal Account field, select which one to use.
Enter the payment amount in the value field.
Select the fulfillment workflow stage (Pre-payment or Post-payment) or leave blank.
Click Save.

Rates: Create individual incentives automatically, in the amount quoted by each applicant.

The Rate feature requires influencers to submit their desired rate for the campaign when they apply. An incentive is created for each applicant in the amount they quoted.

Enable the Require Rate feature on the campaign application.
Select PayPal as the fulfillment option.
Collect and review applications from influencers.
Update incentive amounts, if needed.

Setup form

When you create a PayPal incentive, the setup form includes the following fields. Click on a field for more information.

Incentive type: Cash

Fulfillment option: PayPal

PayPal Account: Select which account to draw funds from

The integration can be linked with a Later Influence-owned PayPal account.

When you create a PayPal incentive, you must select which account the funds will be drawn. For additional detail, see Account Options.

Value: Enter the value of the payment

Since you are using a Later Influence-owned PayPal account, there are no transaction fees included in the incentive costs. For additional detail, see Incentive & Cost Reporting.

Fulfillment: Enter the workflow stage when the payment will be ready to fulfill

When influencers enter the selected workflow stage, their incentives will be automatically "readied" for fulfillment. Payments are not fulfilled automatically when influencers enter the stage.

The Fulfillment field is optional for PayPal incentives. If your workflow doesn't include payment stages, or you wish to manually Ready incentives, leave the field empty.

PayPal Incentive Fulfillment

PayPal incentives are fulfilled like any other incentive in Later Influence. See Incentive Fulfillment for a complete overview and step-by-step instructions to fulfill campaign incentives.

After a PayPal incentive is marked fulfilled in Later Influence, a PayPal transaction is created and the influencer is sent their payment in an email from PayPal.

Payment emails include the name of the sender. The sender name will appear to influencers as Apifia Co.

Transactions

A PayPal transaction is created each time a PayPal incentive is fulfilled.

Once an incentive's fulfillment status is set to Fulfilled, the related PayPal transaction may have the transaction status Pending, Complete, or Failed.

A ledger of all transactions is available in the Transactions tab, located within the Incentives tab of the main menu. You can use a variety of filters to view transactions and manage your ledger, including payment account, status, campaign, influencer, and date range.

Influencer Details

Influencers do not need a PayPal account to be sent a payment, but they must have one to accept the payment and complete the transaction.

To accept a payment, recipients must log in to PayPal using the same email address where the payment was sent, or create an account using that email address if they do not yet have one.

By default, payment emails from PayPal are sent to the influencers' contact email addresses. If an influencer uses a different email address for PayPal, you can add the account to their profile to ensure they can receive their payment without issue.

Click an influencer's name to open their contact details.
Click the Payments tab at the top of the contact details window.
Enter their PayPal account email address and click Save.
